It Happens Here co-hosted an event with the four main political societies of the university, Oxford University Liberal Democrats (OULD), Oxford University Conservative Association (OUCA), Oxford University Labour Club (OULC) and Champagne and Socialism.
All the money raised through ticket sales has been promised to the Oxford Sexual Abuse and Rape Crisis Centre (OSARCC).
For me, organising the event was a real pleasure and privilege. Having so many people in the room, all of whom had shown up to raise money for such an important organisation was slightly surreal. I remember sexual violence, as a Fresher, being something very abstract. I heard about OSARCC but never thought I or anyone I knew would ever have to use their services. Hopefully, our money raised can go towards supporting the numerous students who will use their services. And events such as these can help in removing the stigma of sexual violence.
